What is the difference between CF8M and SS316?

CF8M vs SS316 Standard

CF8M is defined in ASMT A351, ASMT A743, and ASTM A744, which is for casting purposes only.

SS316 is defined in ASTM A240 and ASTM A276, it’s for plate, sheet, strip or stainless steel bars.

If they used AISI 316. The difference is clear too.

AISI 316 belongs to American Standard austenitic stainless steel. Executive standard: ASTM A 959-2004. The chemical composition of AISI 316 is as follows:
